Sunday February 5th starts a new class series at House of Intuition. This class is for women who have lost their mothers and want to heal. It is a four week series and each week will work with a different element. The class facilitator Teri, a healer at HOI, says she started this class after a series of women came in for readings who all had lost mothers. She realized they were helping her see that she had a healing experience she can assist others with. After losing her mother as a teen, she stumbled upon a book that helped her through her grief. She has been called to create a group and space for healing the pain associated with this loss so women can find their strength.
"This book helped tremendously." -Teri
Teri is approaching this class series with a concept that comes from Japan which is Kintsukuroi. This means that a broken piece is more beautiful having been broken. In Japan, they put broken pottery back together with gold as you can see in the photo above. The reason she has chosen to do this in a four week series is because she wants to heal all the chambers and give the healing time to digest. The air/wind element will be the focus of the first week and the next two weeks will bring healing through the water and earth elements. The final week will be using the fire element to burn away whatever is still lingering allowing you to be born again.
"I first thought to do this meditation in an hour but spirit and the moms were adamant that it needed to be four weeks because we have to go thru each chamber of the heart and let the meditation marinate for healing to occur." -Teri
If you know of someone who has lost a mother, this could be a good thing to tell them about. Being in a group with an intention is a great way to clear emotions as energy is stronger in a group. Also taking time to heal may help clear up energy that you may not be aware of. When we heal, we often find new solutions and perspectives that we weren't open to before. Sometimes when we get stuck in set ways of thinking, it is our emotional coping that is closing us off to the infinite possibilities for happiness that the universe offers us. We may be clinging to the past instead of seeing possibilities in the future. We may be playing out stories that no longer serve us. We may be playing it safe or not allowing stability. Your experience will be unique to you but don't resist the massive benefits of healing available to you.
Teri was brave to share that she knew her mom would pass before she turned 18. Teri has always been extremely connected to spirit. She says she was still devastated and unprepared. She took a while to heal but through the experience, she feels equipped to help others heal with the tools she used to help others have an easier go of it. Maybe you will then be able to go on and help others as she feels called to do as well. The book, Motherless Daughters A Legacy of Loss by Hope Edelman is the book that came to Teri a year after her mother passed. Teri has managed to find a way to heal the chambers of her metaphoric heart that was broken by this passing. She has learned how to live with the scars of losing her mother and find the beauty of feeling broken.
Having a group of women you can grow with where you will be supported and uplifted is a good space to be when you are still healing. It is a safe space where you can be understood and seen. It is ok and necessary to process emotions and it is empowering to move through them. We know the relationships we have with our parents affect many aspects of our lives and this class series is unique in that it does address a specific group of women dealing with this type of loss. If you feel called to be there, you probably should go. You can sign up for the class here . The whole series is $72 and will meet for four Sundays in a row 7:30-8:30PM.
