The Planet of Thought and Communication begins its third retrograde of 2022 on Friday, September 9th at 8:38 p.m. Pacific Time. While we will encounter all the classical Mercury Retrograde delays and miscommunications, if we use it right, this retrograde can help us recalibrate our lives in a profound way.
Mercury will begin its backward journey in Libra, the social Sign of the Scales that deals with themes of relationships. From now until September 23rd, what appear to be misunderstandings will have us weigh some of our closest relationships.
We will be asked to evaluate if the recent growth that we have been experiencing in this part of our lives is in line with the path we have decided to walk. This is especially true around the partnerships that began around mid-May and applies to any type of connection that seems established. In true Libra fashion, we will have to weigh the pros and the cons of remaining committed to a romantic or business partner, our coach, or even a friend.
The Mercury Retrograde vibe quickly changes when the Planet of the Mind enters Virgo, while in retrograde motion, on September 23rd. Mercury is the natural ruler of Virgo, which would normally tame the effects of the retrograde. However, due to Mercury forming an opposition with Neptune Retrograde in Pisces, the effects of Mercury will adopt a nebulous tone.
As one of the most pragmatic signs of the Zodiac, Virgo deals with efficiency, productivity, and daily routine. So, from now until the end of the retrograde (October 2nd), Mercury Retrograde will strip away the illusions around the way we are living our lives. If we are living a lifestyle that doesn’t align with our long-term goals, be prepared to, suddenly, be hyper-aware of it.
This interesting combo of energies might feel intense in the moment, but it can really help us re-direct our focus in the case that we have become misaligned.A friendly reminder that Mercury Retrogrades are usually not a great time to make big decisions—instead, they are fabulous times to gather information and gain clarity around the situations that come up for us.
