October 25–31 — Unearthing What Has Value

Posted by Chelsy Lugo on

Venus retrogrades back into Libra on October 25, an important improvement in essential dignity: Venus remains retrograde and therefore revisionary, but she returns to one of her own domiciles, giving questions of relationship, fairness, aesthetics, values, and negotiation more coherent Venusian tools.

The Full Moon in Taurus occurs late October 25 in Pacific time / early October 26 Eastern time, and is one of the more traditionally interesting lunations in this stretch because the Moon is exalted in Taurus and ruled by Venus in her domicile of Libra, although Venus' retrograde motion says resolution may still involve something or someone from the past. The Sun squares Pluto on October 26, adding modern themes of confrontation with power, control, shadow material, fear, compulsion, or truths that can no longer remain buried. Around October 28, Venus' opposition to Chiron can be read in modern astrology as reopening wounds around worth, affection, belonging, or relational vulnerability so that they can be consciously addressed.

Retrograde Mercury squares Mars on October 30, classically increasing the potential for arguments, cutting words, impatience, misunderstandings, and acting upon incomplete information; because Mercury is revisiting Scorpio while Mars occupies fixed Leo, neither side is especially inclined to back down. Finally, Jupiter and Saturn form a sesquiquadrate on October 31, a modern minor aspect rather than a traditional one, highlighting tension between expansion and restraint, optimism and realism, or ambition and what present circumstances can actually support. As a tarot backdrop, the week carries a compelling theme of excavation followed by valuation: after everything October has uncovered, what is genuinely worth keeping, repairing, returning to, or releasing?

Main Energy: Ace of Swords reversed

Obstacle: Five of Pentacles reversed

Advice: Six of Pentacles reversed

SLIDE 1: THIS WEEK’S ENERGY

The heavens keep turning, so we keep trucking. Venus backs into familiar territory in Libra, giving us a better treasure map while she’s still retrograde. The Full Moon in Taurus asks what helps us feel supported and secure, and what needs adjusting. Meanwhile, the Sun’s clash with Pluto may expose power struggles, while Mercury’s clash with Mars could give everyone a suspicious amount of confidence in their opinions. So stay curious, check what you’re hearing, and take a breather when things get heated. We may uncover something useful this week, but let’s check before declaring every shiny rock gold.

SLIDE 2: MAIN ENERGY: ACE OF SWORDS REVERSED

The Ace of Swords reversed reminds us that new information doesn’t automatically come with the whole story. One clue is useful, but let’s not announce that we’ve cracked the case just yet. Before drawing conclusions, ask what you know, what you’re assuming, and what still needs explaining. Mercury retrograde supports taking another look, while its clash with Mars suggests watching how you deliver what you discover. Even a valid point can get lost when it arrives wearing boxing gloves. Ask questions, check the details, and pause before responding. The case is still open, so hold off on the verdict.

SLIDE 3: OBSTACLE: FIVE OF PENTACLES REVERSED

The Five of Pentacles reversed suggests improvement may be possible, even if trusting it feels tricky. After a difficult stretch, accepting help can feel unfamiliar or scary, and some offers have conditions or limits. Ask what support you can use, what still needs attention, and whether fear or pride is keeping you from accepting it. Venus retrograde and the Taurus Full Moon invite a review of your needs and resources. A little progress deserves a cheer, but maybe hold the “everything is fixed” parade. Clarify exactly what’s offered, and remember that needing more support doesn’t cancel the progress you’ve made.

SLIDE 4: ADVICE: SIX OF PENTACLES REVERSED

The Six of Pentacles reversed asks whether giving and receiving have become a little lopsided. Are you offering more than you can spare, accepting help with uncomfortable strings, or refusing support because you fear being a burden? Venus retrograde in Libra encourages a conversation about what feels fair. Be clear about what you need, what you can offer, and what everyone expects in return. Fair doesn’t always mean fifty-fifty, but everyone’s needs and limits should matter. Give what you can and accept what helps. You don’t need to give everyone a lifetime subscription to your time and energy.

SLIDE 5: TAKE AWAY

This week, give yourself permission to ask questions before deciding you have the whole story. The Ace of Swords reversed favors clarification over quick conclusions. The Five of Pentacles reversed asks you to recognize progress while being honest about the support you still need. The Six of Pentacles reversed encourages clearer and equitable expectations around what you give and receive. Ask the awkward question, and be honest about what you need and what you can offer. A clear conversation now could save you from spending the week saying “it’s fine” while your face gives RBF.

Aries: Five of Wands

Aries, are you competing to get better, or just for the plot? The Five of Wands points to clashing priorities, potential disagreements, and too many people steering one project. With your ruler Mars in Leo squaring a retrograde Mercury, small differences of opinion could turn into a shouting match over credit. Healthy competition can sharpen your work, so save the quibbling for what matters. If you’re losing the plot, check with the writers’ room and let someone else take a pass at the script. We love a strong protagonist, but some stories get richer when the cast shares the spotlight.

Taurus: Four of Wands reversed

Taurus, does something feel slightly askew, like a wobbly chair? The Four of Wands reversed points to a foundation that needs leveling, social circles that feel a little out of sync, or a win that didn’t land as you pictured. The Full Moon in your sign asks for an honest look at what supports you, while your retrograde ruler, Venus, reviews which connections are worth the upkeep. Nobody’s saying burn the house down, but keep things a little more private while you fix the wobble. You can welcome your friends home without opening the door to their entire extended family.

Gemini: King of Wands

Gemini, our king, you’re in a great spot to make things happen. The King of Wands brings vision, confidence, and the kind of thinking ahead you do so well, so lay the groundwork for something bigger. With your ruler Mercury retrograde, treat every review as a chance to sharpen the plan because good leaders keep learning. However, with Mercury squaring Mars, your passion can drown out the conversation, so listen first and lead second. When things get unclear, ask the hard-hitting questions. And keep your pivot ready, because this retrograde has a few curveballs warming up.

Cancer: Six of Swords reversed

Ah, spooky season is upon us, Cancer, and the Six of Swords reversed is bringing the zombies. Not literal ones, but old situations may come shambling back, a transition may move at a stagger, and accepting change might feel like being a werewolf in denial during a full moon. Speaking of which, the Full Moon in Taurus finds your ruler exalted, and with Mercury and Venus both retrograde, it’s a well-lit moment to revisit old ghosts and lay them to rest. Ask what has changed, including you, and call your coven for backup. Some zombies just need a proper send-off.

Leo: Two of Swords

Caught between a rock and a hard place, Leo? The Two of Swords finds you at a crossroads where neither path looks thrilling, so you’re frozen. With your ruler, the Sun, squaring Pluto, it’s easy to fixate on what nobody’s said out loud and make the choice feel heavier than it is. Before assigning anyone a secret motive, ask the question you’ve been dodging because it may be what’s keeping you in place. The others at this crossroads may not actually be stuck, and neither are you. Sometimes the hard place is just a talk you haven’t had yet.

Virgo: Four of Cups reversed

Someone’s looking refreshed and dewy, Virgo! The Four of Cups reversed brings renewed interest, so an offer you passed on before may come back with a fresh glow. With your ruler Mercury in retrograde, you may notice you judged it a little harshly the first time, so give it a real second look. Then do your Virgo due diligence: does it fit what you need now, or does it just have great packaging? Overhauling your routine on a whim can backfire, but the right research might turn up the perfect serum for your situation. Just remember to patch test first.

Libra: Eight of Swords reversed

Libra, those knots might be looser than they look. The Eight of Swords reversed suggests a situation that felt stuck has more wiggle room than you thought. With your ruler Venus back home in Libra, still retrograde but on her own turf, it’s a great moment to revisit old agreements and question what once felt ironclad. Which rules did you write, and which did you just inherit? Renegotiating can feel vulnerable, but it’s a sign of growth, not failure. You may simply be outgrowing old limits. Turns out those ropes were a size too small.

Scorpio: The Empress reversed

Scorpio, with Venus leaving your sign, you might be feeling a little undernourished. The Empress reversed suggests your needs have slid to the bottom of the list while you tend to everyone else’s. It’s your birthday season, so skip the subtle hints and say plainly what you need. Has caring for others started to feel like a chore? Then make room for something that feeds you simply because it feels good. Pleasure counts as maintenance, too. So kick off your shoes, and remember, Venus will swing back into your sign later on.

Sagittarius: Seven of Cups

Welcome to the buffet, Sagittarius! The Seven of Cups lays out a spread of possibilities, and some look delicious, but will they all actually fill you up? Your ruler Jupiter loves a big plate, while tension with Saturn asks whether each dream fits your current time and budget. Enjoy the browsing, then pick what’s substantial and doable. Check what’s already on your plate, what’s still on its way, and what needs more time to digest. Your eyes may be bigger than your stomach this week, but the good news is you can always go back for seconds.

Capricorn: Queen of Pentacles reversed

Capricorn, the Queen of Pentacles reversed suggests you’re taking your hosting duties a little too seriously. You’re not just the queen; you’re also the valet, the cook, the housekeeper, and the accountant. People are used to you being the reliable one, but when did being a good host turn into being everyone’s mom? With your ruler Saturn retrograde, review which responsibilities are actually yours and hand a few back. Your time, money, and energy aren’t a bottomless pantry. Let your guests pitch in, and save yourself a seat. Even royalty gets to sit at their own table.

Aquarius: Four of Swords reversed

Aquarius, you might want to slow down just a little. With the Four of Swords reversed, you might find your feet running onto the next goal before you even finish your current track. After slow periods, other signs take their time gathering their strength for their run. You, on the other hand, are choosing to run full speed ahead out of restlessness. You have been taking time away to be in your space and now that you feel ready, you are running to start new things. However, feeling ready and being ready are two different things so take your time gathering your strength. And be extra careful if we’re rushing forward and distracting ourselves because we’re bored or need mental stimulation. Start small, baby steps and before long, you’ll be back running marathons in no time.

Aquarius, maybe slow your roll just a little. The Four of Swords reversed suggests you’re itching to sprint toward the next goal before you’ve even finished this lap. After some time in your own space, you feel ready, but feeling ready and being ready are two different things. With your ruler Saturn retrograde, check your actual stamina, not just your enthusiasm. If you’re rushing because you’re bored or craving mental stimulation, give that restlessness a smaller outlet. Start with a light jog and some baby steps. You’ll be back to running marathons before you know it.

Pisces: The World

Pisces, the World says you’ve reached a summit worth celebrating! Take a moment to enjoy the view, because you worked hard to get here. This card marks a completion and the shift into a new chapter of your journey. With your traditional ruler Jupiter in Leo, it’s the perfect time to applaud how much you’ve grown and everything you’ve contributed along the way. Reflect on what you’ve learned and what’s worth carrying into the next cycle. You don’t have to rush into the next stage just yet. The trail can wait while you soak in the view and celebrate.
