The charcoal lit easily and stayed hot. I purchased charcoal from other stores but either they crumbled or they took a while to get hot. This charcoal stayed hard and got hot fast. Totally recommend!

Take a piece of Charcoal from the package
With a pair of tongs, pick up the Charcoal and carefully light it with a fire source (Note the charcoal will spark vigorously)
Place the Charcoal on a heat proof receptacle lined with salt
When the Charcoal is grey, you may add your choice of herb, resin, or incense blend
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
