Just within two days after this month’s powerful Full Moon, we arrive at a crucial turning point in time. On Sunday, March 20 we welcome The Spring Equinox, and on Monday March 21, the Sun will also enter the part of the sky ruled by Aries. This is significant for many different reasons.
It’s the beginning of a fresh, new season as we transition into the Spring. This is also the very beginning of the Astrological Year as we welcome the energy of the first sign of the Zodiac Wheel. As with any other season, astrologers cast the chart of this very particular moment to read the overall energy that will prevail for the entire season ahead. In this case, this astrological chart stays active for the next three months, until the Summer Solstice arrives on June 21st.
This year, Aries season is bound to feel like an injection of adrenaline, as the Sun will be the only planetary body in a fire sign. We could be feeling like waking up from a dream, ready to act on some of the most amazing and vivid dreams. As the bright light of the Sun makes it annual entrance into the Sign of the Ram, it brings the purest raw energy of the fire element. Aries is also the Sun’s absolute best zodiac sign placement, which means that solar and yang energy will be the highest it will be all year long.
At the exact moment the Spring Equinox arrives, the Moon will be in Libra, hinting that our emotional focus will be on creating harmony around us, as well as the exchange of communication and ideas. Both luminaries, the Sun and Moon, will be connecting with Pluto, the Planet of Rebirth and Transformation. Pluto is not the easiest planet to master—and while it might be difficult to make the changes that we need to make to respond to its influence, these adjustments will increase our determination and ambition.
Another signature of the season ahead greatly colors relationships. The cosmic lovers, Venus and Mars, are clashing with Uranus, the Planet of Freedom. This means that in order to grow on an individual level, we will require a little more wiggle room within our closest relationships. If we don’t honor that need, we will feel held back as we passionately work towards our goals.
