THE MAGIC OF ECLIPSE SEASON BEGINS

by Courtney OReilly

You may have heard the term “eclipse season” floating around lately, and for good reason! Eclipse seasons are eventful times of the year when one area of your life undergoes some major upgrades. Let’s dive into how this works a little more.

Every month, we have approximately one New Moon and one Full Moon each, which fall two weeks apart. These are the climactic points of the moon's cycle. When we have an eclipse, what happens is that the New or Full Moon comes to meet with its own axis, denoted by two karmic mathematical points known as the north and south nodes. When the New or Full Moon falls within range of the north or south node, we have a Solar or Lunar Eclipse, respectively.

For this reason, eclipses are supercharged New and Full moons—they carry the power of a New or Full Moon times three! They are potent portals of rapid change and development, and they have a wide reaching effect. Eclipse related news can come through within a month-wide radius of the eclipse date itself—this is why we call it eclipse season.

New Moon Solar Eclipses bring new initiations, while Full Moon Lunar Eclipses bring closure or significant endings. Keep an eye out for big news in your life near the eclipse dates, and be sure to jot down a few notes around any significant happenings. This way when you look back you’ll notice a common thread, or important storyline the eclipses are revealing that builds with each consecutive eclipse. They always have something they’re trying to teach you, so look back to your notes for key clues.

Eclipses deliver their lessons to us via families of opposing signs for about a year and a half at a time before they move on to the next set of signs. You’ll notice where the eclipses fall within your birth chart for that year and a half is where you had the most significant growth, and likely feel a sense of having leveled up within that area of your life.

The first eclipse within the Taurus and Scorpio eclipse cycle came back on November 19, 2021, it was a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus. In 2022 we are solidly in the Taurus and Scorpio eclipse cycle, and we are currently in the first eclipse season of the year! The second eclipse season of 2022 will be in the fall.

Here are the eclipse dates of 2022:

April 30, 2022 - New Moon Solar Eclipse at 10º Taurus

May 15, 2022 - Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 25º Scorpio

Oct 25, 2022 - New Moon Solar Eclipse at 2º Scorpio

Nov 8, 2022 - Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 16º Taurus

We think of eclipse season as The Universe doing a little spring cleaning. The eclipses swoop in to wipe away the cobwebs and clear stagnation, which not only offers clarity but also creates space for something fresh to come through. They nudge us towards evolution and usher us forward on our path. While eclipses can certainly stir up quite a bit and often bring profound endings and new beginnings, we find in hindsight you are often astounded by just how far you’ve come in such a short amount of time. That’s the blessing of eclipse season. Be brave!
