This is a busy week in the sky. On Monday, Virgo season begins and on Saturday, there is a New Moon, also in Virgo (stay tuned for a blog dedicated to both astro events). Right in-between these, the main protagonist of this year’s astrology has a speed shift.
Uranus, the planet that has created so much change, begins its retrograde on Wednesday, August 24th at 6:54 a.m. Pacific Time.
In mythology, Uranus relates to the myth of Prometheus, the God that was punished for bringing writing, mathematics, agriculture, medicine, and science to humankind. In astrology, Uranus is the planet of genius and the liberator, the ambassador of the future that is tasked with pushing the evolution of humanity. In our personal stories, this archetype appears when something in our lives has gotten stale and needs a revamp or an injection of energy. However, because this planet’s influence functions unpredictably, it tends to shock us. Let’s face it, most of us don’t like change—but it only happens to be that “change is the only constant in life.”
As Uranus retrogrades for the rest of the year (it goes direct in January), it loses some of its powers. While its energetic influence will remain strong, especially in July and August, its volatile and nervous side diminishes enough to allow us to tap into its brilliance. So, for the rest of the year, we get the opportunity to digest all the ups and downs as well as the sudden endings that have been taking place since the beginning of 2021.
