The astrology of this week could feel like the universe flipping the light switch on us, heralding a time of deep, intense inner work. Two of the most intense planetary archetypes lead this week’s astral shenanigans, their names are Chiron and Pluto. Tough but fascinating, they both relate to our shadow and the hard-to-approach parts of our lives that we would rather not see. However, once integrated, these cosmic big hitters have the power to transform our lives, as they both embody the archetype of “The Shaman,” in their own way.
On Tuesday, July 19th at 8:21 a.m. Pacific Time, Chiron, the Wounded Healer, goes retrograde in Aries. And as it switches gears, we are bound to feel a deep need to heal an old wound. That same afternoon, the Sun will challenge Pluto in Capricorn, illuminating secrets, and some of the darkest corners of our psyche. Their energetic synchronicity is not a coincidence, they are teaming up to help us get to the other side. Should you feel the call, the following ritual will assist in working with these Cosmic Shamans.
The Ritual
You will need a black candle, pen & paper, palo santo, a mirror, and a piece of smoky quartz.
Begin by clearing your space and your smoky quartz with palo santo. Then, sit in a comfortable position, light the black candle, and begin to meditate while gazing at the flame. Choose a difficult situation you know has stayed with you. It could be a person, a breakup, or a secret that you have told no one about.
Begin by writing your feelings about it—the deeper you go, the better, especially if it feels uncomfortable. It’s crucial that you sink into these challenging feelings, watch them pass by, and if it’s necessary, have a good cry.
Once you are done, grab the mirror and after staring at your own eyes for a few minutes, repeat the following phrase slowly, three times: “I am not my fears, I am not my insecurities, and I am definitely not my secrets.”
Allow for these words to settle into your energy, for as long as it feels right. Then grab the sheet of paper with your writing and begin to burn it with the flame of the candle as you say the following phrase slowly, three times: “I have integrated you, now I am ready to banish thee.”
Lastly, snuff out the black candle and intentionally end the ritual.
