The second week of May is very cosmically eventful, so make sure to leave some time free in your calendar to rest and catch your breath. Coupled with Mercury Retrograde beginning on May 10, the energy quickly builds towards this month’s Full Moon, which happens on Sunday, May 15th at 9:14 p.m. Pacific Time.
Bringing the power of three Full Moons in one, this Lunar Eclipse appears in the skies of Scorpio. As an archetype, Scorpio is the Shaman, the Sign of the Witch, unafraid to go to depths that no other zodiac sign can ever reach. It is in this dark place where Scorpio finds its gold, its power—and most importantly, its resilience. So regardless of our sign, we are all being invited to pay a visit to our negative traits, our shadow, and embrace them in all their glory. Let’s see this influence as our cosmic reminder that our dark side, along with our positive side, is what not only makes us whole, but also human.
This Lunar Eclipse triggers a tricky configuration in the sky called a Fixed T-square, locking planets in three different parts of the sky. In astrology, the T-square is a dynamic, vigorous pattern that creates enough pressure to move us forward. However, because all the planets involved are in fixed signs (Taurus, Scorpio, and Aquarius), moving forward will not be an easy task. Eclipses are the tools the Universe uses to create change in our lives, but fixed signs (like their quality implies) do not like change. So, under this astrological weather, we could feel very resistant to making room for the adjustments we are required to make.
This is a cosmic test of our character, and the trick lies in the mastery of both our ego as well as our emotions. Sure, we might not be getting what we want, or what we think we need to feel successful or happy. However, the phrase, “The universe brings what you need and not what you think you want.” applies here. During this lunation, both luminaries are clashing with Saturn, the Father of Time. Giving this astrological event a double dose of karmic imprints. Trust that whatever happens now is the medicine you need, even if it doesn’t seem that way now.
