We are currently in the shadow period of the second retrograde of Mercury of 2022! The Planet of Thought and Communication begins its retrograde on Tuesday, May 10th at 4:47 a.m. Pacific Time. While we will encounter all the classical Mercury Retrograde snafus and misconnections, there is huge promise in sight.
For starters, Mercury will be Retrograde in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. This makes the Cosmic Trickster happy, which could translate into less burdens for us earthlings. Deeper insight and a great connection to our spirituality are some of the gifts this retrograde brings. At the exact moment of its speed shift, Mercury will be forming a positive connection with Jupiter, the Planet of Spirit and Abundance. This reads like a good omen, regardless of how many obstacles we find along the way. On Sunday, May 22 nd at 6:15 p.m. Pacific Time, Mercury will re-enter Taurus while moving backward. This is when things can get more intense, as Mercury will be clashing with more energetically intense planets. However, around this time, Mercury also delivers some aha moments.
The Ritual
While this ritual can be performed any time during the transit of Mercury Retrograde, which lasts from May 10 th to June 3 rd , there are some specific times in which it can be more powerful. Wednesdays (May 11th, May 18th, May 25th, and June 1 st ) are potent days to connect with Mercury, and so is Saturday, May 21 st around 12 p.m. Pacific Time, which is the exact moment Mercury perfectly aligns with the light of the Sun. You will need a piece of Agate or Opal, a yellow pen, a yellow candle, a piece of paper, and some lavender.
First, light the candle and grab the crystal while allowing your energy to settle.
Meditate on the symbol or image of the planet Mercury, and once you’re ready, invite it into your space. Once you feel its presence, ask for Mercury’s help by saying: “Oh dear Hermes, I am here to ask for your guidance. Please allow the rays of the Sun to illuminate what I shall know.”
Once you feel ready, grab your yellow pen and start writing in the piece of paper in free flow. Simply just write what comes to your mind, without yet worrying about its meaning. What’s important is that you capture the messages in their pure form, as they will most likely make
more sense later on.
