Welcome to September and an important week in the sky. On Monday, September 2nd at 6:56 p.m. PT, we are greeted by the New Moon in Virgo, initiating us into the second eclipse season of the year. New Moons are times of new beginnings, when seeds get planted and new themes begin to emerge.
In astrology, Virgo is the Zodiac sign that rules fixing, analysis, and the sacred connection between mind, body, and spirit. As the healer of the Zodiac, high sensitivity notices the energetic blockages we carry, preventing us from finding wholeness. Every time the Moon renews in this sign, we turn our minds to fixing or aligning what’s wrong or misaligned.
This year’s New Moon in Virgo forms a positive connection with an Asteroid Goddess, teaming up to touch, unpack - and most importantly, heal - one of the most sensitive parts of ourselves. Ceres brings the archetype of the Divine Mother, who in ancient myths, restlessly fights to bring her daughter Persephone, back from the underworld.
At this sensitive lunar event, we are all invited to review our connection to our mother as well as the way we experienced an abundance (or a lack) of nurturance. This is a sensitive subject for many of us, but one that is necessary to touch on, as learning to truly tend to our inner child is the secret to living a thriving life. The ritual below will guide you in giving yourself the nurturance you so deserve.
Honoring Ceres, Your Inner Mother
You will need flowers or natural adornments, a candle (the rebirth magic candle works perfectly), pen, and paper. Add a few pinches of coconut magic dust to your candle for an extra boost!
After adorning your ritual space with the flowers, take a few deep breaths and imagine a huge beam of light coming from the sky, representing the Divine Mother Ceres. Grab your pen and paper and begin asking and answering the following questions:
- Did I receive the nurturance I needed? How can I truly give myself that now?
- Were my gifts and talents celebrated by my family? How can I celebrate them?
- In realizing that my mother did what she could with her level of consciousness, can I truly forgive her for any lack?
End the ritual by reaping the mantra: “Only I can give myself the nurturance I need; so I shall begin at this new moon.”
